Despite the pressures many families face daily, the kitchen remains the heart of most homes. A welcome return to open plan living has increased opportunities for interaction between family members allowing a sharing of the day’s experiences.
Kitchens are also the single most important factor in achieving a satisfactory sale of a home. We all have different tastes and preferences so it is impossible to have a kitchen that will suit everyone. But there are basic considerations that will allow any potential buyer to compromise on their idea of a ‘perfect kitchen’. These include layout rules (the magic triangle) and avoiding excessive personalisation. Of course, if your are in your home for the long term, personalisation is just wonderful and recommended ![]()
Finally, along with bathrooms, kitchens are the most expensive component of any home. Plumbing. gas fitting and drainage are major factors, as are the multiple power outlets most kitchens need. Then we get to the cabinets – always an expensive exercise. A typical, good quality kitchen should last 20 years but often our tastes change long before then. If you use a good quality carcass and fittings, it is possible to give your kitchen a very economical facelift by simply replacing benchtops, splashbacks or cabinet doors.
Here we present some single kitchen albums but we’ve also included many one-off images of kitchens to inspire you. We hope you enjoy our efforts…
